Training in the Legal Profession:
Callum’s journey into the legal profession was ignited by the advice of an exceptional law teacher during his sixth form studies at Sandbach School. From there, he went on to study Law LLB at the University of Birmingham Law School where he found that he enjoyed learning about actions in negligence and the Equality Act 2010 in particular. Callum graduated from the University of Birmingham in July 2023 and joined NBB Law in August 2023.
Today, as a Graduate Solicitor Apprentice at the Firm, Callum is committed to representing individuals in Education Law matters, training under the guidance and supervision of Salima Mawji and Priscilla Adu, both of whom are featured in the Legal 500/ Chambers & Partners.
As a Graduate Solicitor Apprentice, Callum studies towards the Solicitors Qualification Exams (SQE) at BPP University alongside his employment at the Firm.
Passion and Expertise:
At the Firm, Callum has received training in the Property Litigation, Private Client and Family Law departments before transferring completely to the Education Law department. The variety of law that Callum has experienced has enabled him to continue to develop an O-shaped mentality as a lawyer, focusing on emotional intelligence in his client care, putting the client at the forefront of their matter.
Future Goals:
At the University of Birmingham, Callum tutored fellow students in large groups through the intricacies of negligence actions and claims against third parties, fostering a deeper understanding of legal principles.
Upon qualification, Callum plans to complete his Higher Rights of Audience and qualify as a Solicitor Advocate, representing clients in diverse legal settings including the senior Courts, Tribunals, and before internal committee panels.
Extra-Curricular Activities
In Callum’s spare time, he enjoys trying new coffee shops, reading (Stephen King in particular!) and spending time with his friends, many of which have been made through his sporting endeavours.
Callum plays club rugby in Birmingham and has represented the Greater Birmingham area in senior county rugby for the previous two years.
At the University of Birmingham, Callum captained and organised the Law School football team, including corresponding with league organisers and players to enable a competitive and enjoyable experience.
Callum also plays cricket, having represented his county in this field too.
